Dr. Henry C. Lee, perhaps the most famous of forensic experts, visited the New Canaan Senior Men’s Club at St. Mark’s Church, in Morrill Hall Friday morning, Dec. 18, to speak about his career.
He has assisted law enforcement agencies in many high profile cases such as, the O. J. Simpson murder trial, the Lacy Peterson murder case, Kennedy Smith sexual assault trials, the kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart, the reinvestigation of the Kennedy assassination, and the Helle Craft “Woodchipper” murder, which was the first murder conviction in Connecticut in which a body was never found.
Lee has been involved in more than 8,000 investigations spanning over 40 countries. He was a consultant for more than 800 law enforcement agencies.
He also served as Connecticut’s commissioner of Public Safety, director of the Connecticut State Police Forensic Science Laboratory, and as the state’s chief criminalist.
Lee told the crowded room, “At the crime scene, the power of observation is so important. If you can see it, you can observe, you can find potential evidence, your case (can be) solved.”
