The New Canaan Board of Realtors named Margaret C. Jay – known as “Peggy” as 2015 Realtor Citizen of the Year. She owns her own real estate business in New Canaan and has practiced for many years. She is the founder and owner/broker of Real Estate Information Center, Inc. She is a licensed real estate broker in Connecticut, New York and Florida.
As New Canaan’s only state licensed Certified General Appraiser, she is able to assist the legal community, other real estate offices and property owners with opinions of value. This includes residential, commercial and industrial assignments.
Conservation easements are a new specialty in this part of Connecticut and many investors consult with her for feasibility analysis.
Jay has taught the required licensing course known as principles and practices, as well as many sales training and appraisal courses. For two years she was elected chairperson to the New Canaan Board of Assessment Appeals.
Peggy has served as the chair and/or vice chair for several Connecticut Association of Realtors committees. Including the following:
1995 chair of Professional Standards Committee
1998 vice chair of the Grievance Committee
1999 chair of the Grievance Committee
2001 vice chair of the Grievance Committee
2002 chair of the Grievance Committee
Served on the board of directors from 1995-2002
Served on the executive committee in 1999 and 2000
She serves on the professional standards committee as well as being a mediator
Her newest assignment is acting as ombudsman for the New Canaan Board of Realtors.
As an active community volunteer, she is currently the membership chair for Staying Put, Lee House Chair of the New Canaan Beautification League, Commissioned Stephen Minister at First Presbyterian Church and the honorary chair of the Annual Allan V. Jay Tennis Tournament.
