Circle of Care in Wilton is the beneficiary of a $50,000 from New Canaan resident Matt Russo and members of his financial advisory team at Northwestern Mutual NYC Midtown.
Russo and his team have been involved in the fight against pediatric cancer for many years. It began when a close friend and co-worker lost his son to cancer. Since that time, the team has supported childhood cancer through sponsoring local events.
Over the years, Russo and his firm have orchestrated multiple events in Manhattan where every member of the firm was encouraged to do their part, either through a contribution or direct participation. These events benefitted Circle of Care and Northwestern Mutual’s national charity, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
In recognition of these efforts, the Northwestern Mutual Foundation awarded the NYC Midtown office its 2019 Childhood Cancer Impact Award and $50,000. They, in turn, gave the money to Circle of Care.
“Over the eight years we have been working with Circle of Care, we have seen first-hand the impact they have on children with cancer and their families, and it is an honor to give them this grant for the outstanding work they do for families in Connecticut and the New York area,” Russo said.
This grant ensures that a network of volunteers is available at the grassroots level to provide support, and that direct emergency financial assistance can be offered to families who are struggling to make ends meet while caring for their sick children, a press release from the organization said.
