The Director of Music Ministries at The Congregational Church of New Canaan Jo Deen (Jody) Blaine Davis was the organist for the national United Church of Christ Synod in Baltimore, July 1 to 4. It was expected that 5,000 people would attend from across the country.

For weeks, Davis has practiced organ repertoire for preludes and postludes, as well as hymns and anthems for mass choirs.

“It is an honor and privilege to play for services and plenaries. I was especially thrilled when only classical organ music was requested, too,” she said.

Davis will return to New Canaan for a few days before attending the National United Church of Christ Musicians Association (UCCMA) conference in Boston, July 9 to 12.

The Association, a non-profit, national organization with a membership made up of musicians, clergy, and interested laity from the United States and Canada.

Davis is president of the UCCMA.

The conference will hold workshops and rehearsals during the days, and a worship service each evening. The worship services will be in historic Boston UCC churches, each with a different minister and a different style of music.

“I am thrilled with the four unique worship services – they are open to the public so if New Canaanites are visiting Boston, stop by!”

For information, visit uccma.org or contact Davis at music@godsacre.org or 203-966-2651, No. 4.
