New Canaan High School graduate, ’05, Victoria Glerum, daughter of Alison and Eric Glerum of Weston, was married to Michael Patrick Hess, son of the late James and Kathleen Hess, of Rockville Centre, NY, on Saturday, Oct. 22. The bride’s grandfather, Rolf Glerum, officiated the ceremony as a Universal Life Minister at the Windham Mountain Club, Windham, N.Y. The couple shared personal affirmations of their love and commitment to one another surrounded by their dear family and friends. A reception followed the ceremony.
Escorted by both her mother and father, the bride wore a custom ivory silk charmeuse gown fitted with a lace bodice by Rebecca Schoneveld, an independent designer in Brooklyn, N.Y. She carried a bouquet of burgundy dahlias and snapdragons, blue thistle, gold ruscus, and creme de la crème roses, wrapped with an antique lace handkerchief worn by her great, great maternal grandmother.
The wedding party was an all-family affair. The bride was attended to by her two sisters Abigail Glerum (NCHS ‘07) of New York, N.Y. and Kimberly Glerum (NCHS ‘11) of Providence, R.I., and the groom’s niece Lana Hess of Garden City, N.Y. The groom’s brother James Hess of Garden City served as best man and his sister Maureen Ogilvie of Lancaster, Ohio, was best woman. Ushers were the bride’s cousins Jake, Jason and Brady Spelke and the groom’s nephew Philip Hess. The groom’s niece and nephew Deirdre and Michael Ogilvie were the flower girl and ring bearer.
Victoria graduated from New Canaan High School in 2005, and magna cum laude from Colgate University in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in English literature and French. She is a senior creative producer at BuzzFeed, a social news and entertainment company in New York City.
Michael graduated from Pratt Institute in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in creative writing and art history. He is the director of marketing at Storyful, a social media news and content company, also in New York City.
Following their wedding weekend in Windham, N.Y., the couple honeymooned in Buenos Aires and Patagonia in Argentina and Chile.
They reside in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
