Tom Molito will speak to the New Canaan Men’s Club at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, in Morrill Hall at St. Mark’s Church. His talk will be on his favorite subject, Mickey Mantle. A Pound Ridge resident, Molito spent many hours in Starbucks on Elm Street chronicling his unlikely 10-year friendship with his boyhood hero, Mantle. His book, Mickey Mantle: Inside and Outside the Lines, was written for like-minded baseball lovers and Mantle fans.
The book takes a fresh look at Mantle’s career based on today’s statistical measurements and the reasons why he became an American icon. The heartfelt forward of the book was written by music legend Charlie Daniels.
