On Saturday, Sept. 17, two teams of girls from the St. Aloysius School in New Canaan, competed in the Lauralton Hall Science Olympics at Lauralton Hall in Milford, with the sixth grade team winning first place. The Science Olympics for Girls, held twice a year, featured 40 teams composed of 6th, 7th and 8th graders, who competed in events in the areas of Physics, Chemistry, Earth Science and Biology. Each 20 minute challenge required teamwork, planning and lateral thinking. The teams were ordered based on the accuracy of their results and prizes were awarded to the winning teams.
Sixth graders Juliana LaMagna, Isabella Morris and Savanna Shettler won First Place in the day’s events. The Seventh grade team included Elle MacHale, Kathleen Naughton, Katy Cota and Sara Rohan.
