There was a red carpet and everything.
The Great Gilly Hopkins movie had its New Canaan premiere on Wednesday, Oct. 19, with events at New Canaan Library and the New Canaan Playhouse on Elm Street. First, at 5:30 p.m. over 300 kids were at the library to have famous ‘Gilly’ author Katherine Paterson sign their books, which were purchased from Elm Street Books. They enjoyed pizza as well.
Next it was on to the Playhouse, where two of the ‘Gilly’ children stars were in attendance. They were Clare Foley, who lives in Fairfield County, and Zachary Hernandez, from New Jersey. Kids got their autographs, then the movie was shown on both screens. When it was over Paterson held a Q&A.
