Jewels Harrison, 14, a New Canaan native, was awarded The J. Luce Leadership  Award for his humanitarian efforts in raising funds, 2014 and 2015, that benefitted local charitable organizations through his piano recitals.

Jewels attends a school for children with autism. He studies classical piano and is enrolled in a jazz school in New York.

The J. Luce Foundation celebrates individuals who give back to their local and global communities through Honor, Intelligence, Benevolence, and Stewardship in their attempt to making the world a better place.

Despite his diagnosis, Jewels uses his love of music and his gift as a pianist to bring awareness to social issues and to drive home the point that members of the community of children and adults with special needs have gifts and are able to contribute.  They too have a role to play in the repair of our world.
