Dante Melucci is an actor, singer and musician currently playing a principal role as the rebellious drummer Freddy in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock: The Musical, opening at Broadway’s Winter Garden Theater Dec. 6.

Dante, 13, honed his chops at the New Canaan School of Rock for more than three years. He was selected for the Broadway role during open auditions in winter 2015 and won the part after performing it to critical acclaim in the off-Broadway run at the Gramercy Theater in Manhattan. The Broadway production is currently in previews.

Dante has also appeared in the second season of the hit Fox TV series Gotham, and has been shortlisted for roles in major television sitcoms and dramatic series. He’s a member of the House Band at the School of Rock here, and has performed at The Javitz Center and at rock venues around the New York Metropolitan area.

As an actor he has appeared in lead roles in musical and dramatic performances at the Whitby School in Greenwich. Among the parts he’s played are the Artful Dodger from Oliver, Mercutio from Romeo & Juliet and Hot Blades Harry from Urinetown.

Dante is a member of the Actor’s Equity Union, the Screen Actor’s Guild and serves with Broadway Cares. He appears alongside present-day Broadway stars in the 2015 year-end video for Broadway Cares.

He has also performed at and raised money and awareness for Tunes in Times Square, a benefit for children with learning disabilities. He lives in Norwalk with his parents and two siblings.
