Resident Scott Hobbs is the 2019 Fall Guy and will be honored for his community service at the Gridiron Club of New Canaan dinner on April 12 at the Italian Center in Stamford.

A third-generation New Canaanite, Scott Hobbs lives in town with his wife, Lisa, and their children Jack, Charlie and Ellie. After graduating from New Canaan High School in 1985, Hobbs went to Duke University, and in 1989 earned a B.A. in economics, and public policy studies.

From 1989-1992, he served as an armor officer in the U.S. Army, after which he joined the family business.

In 1998, after learning every job at the company, and earning his M.B.A. from Columbia University, Hobbs succeeded his father at Hobbs, Inc. as owner and president.

Community service

Hobbs has served as chairman of the Housing Authority of New Canaan since 2014, and served on various Town Hall building committees. He has served as a board member of the Presbyterian Nursery School, a trustee of St. Luke’s School and he has been a member of the Rotary Club since 2000.

Dinner, roast, entertainment

Each year the Gridiron Club of New Canaan celebrates a member of the community who has set an example of community spirit, and leadership. The Gridiron Club will honor Scott as the 2019 Fall Guy with a roast—Hobbs’ life will be portrayed on stage, and there will be dinner, and live entertainment.

The Gridiron Club makes a donation in honor of the Fall Guy to a charity of the Fall Guy’s choosing, and Hobbs has chosen to support the New Canaan Library’s capital/building campaign in 2019, said the press release.

Tickets cost $150 per person, $275 per couple. The price includes Gridiron club dues which are tax deductible. The event begins with cocktails at 6 p.m., a cash bar.

The April 12 event is open to all. For tickets and information email Gridironclubofnc@gmail.com; also visit the Gridiron Club of New Canaan Facebook page at facebook.com/GridironClubofNewCanaan.
