The New Canaan based organization supports local residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities made the announcement this week.

Bush will talk about global health with her topic, One Person Can Make a Difference: Leveraging Privilege and Passion to Confront Global Challenges.

The luncheon will take place Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the Woodway Country Club in Darien.

Former speakers were Jenna Bush Hager, Norah O’Donnell, Liz Murray, Elizabeth Smart, Jen Bricker, and Ali Wentworth, “all of whom connected well with our guests and helped us raise critical funds for our neighbors with disabilities,” said STAR Executive Director Katie Banzhaf.

Bush is co-founder and Board chair of Global Health Corps — GHC, which mobilizes a global community of young leaders to build the movement for health equity.

GHC was founded in 2009 by six 20-somethings to engage their generation in solving the world’s biggest health challenges, said STAR’s announcement.

Since then GHC has placed nearly 1,000 young leaders working for health equity in Burundi, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Rwanda, Zambia, and the United States.

Prior to GHC, Bush worked in educational programming at the Smithsonian Institution’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, The Red Cross Children’s Hospital in South Africa and UNICEF in Botswana.

Bush graduated from Yale University with a degree in humanities in 2004.
