Prehistoric caves that were decorated by artists in Spain and France will be presented by Brian Hollstein Friday, July 28 at 10 a.m. when the New Canaan Men’s Club meets at St. Mark’s Church.
Hollstein who served the club in the past as president, recently toured the 20,000-year-old prehistoric caves in Lascaux, France, and Altamira, Spain, called the “Sistine Chapels of Prehistoric Art.”
His talk will cover the artists, their tools and techniques, and the motivation behind producing the art that’s lasted for centuries. The discussion will include historical facts like the existence of buffalo in Europe.
Hollstein, a former FBI agent, was director of corporate Security at the Xerox Corporation, and served as Government Relations manager for the company in Latin America. He also served on the Overseas Security Advisory Council during the first Bush administration.
Hollstein is a graduate of New York University, and attended programs at Harvard, Georgetown, and Johns Hopkins. He was honored as the 2016 Distinguished New Canaan Man.
The men’s club is open to members 55 and over. Anyone interested is invited to be a guest at Friday’s meeting. For more information, contact Frank Haines at 203-972-0327 or visit www.NewCanaanMensClub.org.
