“Be active, be healthy, be well” is the message registered clinical physiologist Joe Mychalczuk will bring to his discussion Friday, July 14 at a Men’s Club of New Canaan meeting. The presentation will be centered on staying healthy as we age.
Everyone should know regular exercise, even for just 20 minutes a day, can help avoid or lessen major medical issues of aging such as heart attacks, strokes and even cancer, according to him. Mychalczuk will look at academic evidence to prove the value of fitness in absolute numbers and cases in the upcoming talk.
He has conducted extensive research on creating and maintaining a lifetime of heart health. He spent a number of years at Norwalk Hospital as a cardiac rehabilitation specialist and is currently employed as a medical device specialist by Medtronics, maker of cardiac devices.
Mychalczuk is an adjunct professor at Sacred Heart University where he teaches anatomy and physiology. He is a Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist, with a master’s degree in Exercise Science & Nutrition from Sacred Heart University, and a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University in Exercise Science & Sports Studies.
The New Canaan Men’s Club has openings for new members 55 and over. Anyone interested is invited to be a guest at the meeting. For more information, contact: Frank Haines at 203-972-0327 or www.NewCanaanMensClub.org.
