Gridiron Capital, headquartered in New Canaan, has been selected as the 2016 Private Equity Firm of the Year and Thomas A. Burger, Jr., its managing partner and co-founder, The Game Changer of the Year in the private equity category by ACQ5 Global. This is the second year in a row that ACQ5 has honored Gridiron Capital for its accomplishments in private equity.
Gridiron Capital had a successful 2016 with the final close of an $875 million Gridiron Capital Fund III, two new platform investments, and the successful exits of two portfolio companies. With a newly raised fund, the firm is actively pursuing new investment opportunities with families, entrepreneurs and corporate carve-outs to expand its portfolio.
In March 2016, the firm invested in Travel Nurse across America, a leading independent healthcare staffing firm focused exclusively on providing travel nurses to hospitals and healthcare facilities nationwide. In September, Gridiron also invested in LeafFilter, a leading provider of gutter protection solutions. Earlier in 2016, Gridiron exited ESP/SurgeX, a leading manufacturer of energy intelligence and power protection solutions, and Performance Health, a leading manufacturer and supplier of consumer branded health, wellness and self-care products. Both companies grew significantly since their respective initial investments and are well-positioned to continue growth and retain market leadership.
