The GetAbout, New Canaan’s local transportation service for seniors, special needs residents and others unable to drive, has announced the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors, long-time New Canaan residents Matt Hannon and William Post.
Now in its 45th year, GetAbout helps transportation-challenged residents of all ages maintain active, vital lives in the community, by providing door-to-door transportation by appointment to any New Canaan destination and non-emergency rides to medical offices in surrounding towns. GetAbout maintains a fleet of five minivans all wheelchair-capable if needed.
“I am thrilled at the level of experience we’re able to access with our board,” said Jonathan Bitting, board president. “We have a very strong leadership team in place and we couldn’t be more pleased with these appointments. These individuals are deeply rooted in the New Canaan community. They have solid professional backgrounds and are passionately committed to bring insightful perspectives to our board.”
Matt Hannon has extensive experience as a CEO of a mid-sized manufacturing concern and in corporate finance, M&A and business development. He was part owner and CEO of a steel manufacturer in the U.S. and Canada. He has held executive positions at GE Capital, CIBC World Markets, Toronto Dominion and Marine Midland Bank. He and his wife Paula have live in New Canaan and are the parents of two grown sons.
