LiveGirl will host a leadership summit, Girls Can Lead, open to girls grades 5-8, free of charge, on Saturday, April 29, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Grace Farms in New Canaan.
The keynote speaker will be state Rep. Caroline Simmons (D-144), the youngest female legislator in Connecticut state office.
Simmons attended Harvard, where she played varsity lacrosse. She worked on Barack Obama’s Presidential Transition Team and at the Department of Homeland Security before being elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives in 2014. She was re-elected in 2016.
Girls will explore what it means to be a leader and the various forms of leadership.They will also practice public speaking skills and create their own “I Can Lead” campaign speech. Girls will also have the opportunity to explore the Grace Farms nature trails and engage in team-building games and activities.
