Richard L. Rose, a fellow member of NCMC will address the New Canaan Men’s Club in Morrill Hall at St. Mark’s Church on Friday Feb. 3, at 10 a.m. He will discuss his experiences participating in a World Bank program in the fall of 1991 after Ukraine established its independence from the Soviet Union.
During this crucial period, the World Bank provided support and strategy for Ukraine to make the transition to a market economy. For his part, Rose advised Ukrainian leadership on obtaining bids for the remediation of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster; assisted their commercial and agricultural organizations with plans to do business with the U.S. and helped with their understanding of the legal aspects required for this undertaking.
