Tom Nissley will speak on Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the New Canaan Historical Society, 13 Oenoke Ridge, on the preservation history and future of the house located on the corner of Canoe Hill and Ferris Hill Roads that was recently saved from demolition by he and wife Emily.
The talk, entitled Saved: An Iconic House, takes place in the Lindstrom Room Historical Society. Included will be: What one can do to preserve historic structures and what is an easement.
The house was occupied by the Hoyts, Burwells, Morses, Birdsalls, Carters, Benedicts, Boutons and Stevens, residents whose names are often found in papers and documents that comprise the history of New Canaan.
Nissley serves on the Board of the Conn. Trust for Historic Preservation. He is a realtor in New Canaan, theatre critic for Ridgelea Reports on Theatre and a preservation expert. He is a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College and earned a master’s of divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary.
Refreshments will be served following the meeting.
