The New Canaan Historical Society’s newest exhibit honors the men and women from New Canaan who served in World War II. Lt. Henry Maitland’s Navy White Dress Jumper and hats, Sgt. Benjamin Charles Ritter’s Eisenhower Jacket and Lt. Eleanor Brinkerhoff’s Navy Dress Uniform are just a few of the many uniforms on display.
In addition, there is also quite an impressive collection of memorabilia: An aircraft spotter dial produced by Wonder Bread, civil defense armband, gas mask, campaign medals, and much, much more. All items pay tribute to this critical time in our nation’s history.
The exhibit is in the Town House parlor, and is open Tuesday-Friday 9:30-4:30, and Saturday 9:30-12:30. For more information, call (203) 966-1776, or email newcanaan.historical@gmail.com.
