New Canaan P.E.O. Chapter N recently presented three Program for Continuing Education (PCE) grants. The first award was to Lydia Lord, a New Canaan resident who is studying for her Masters’ degree in early childhood education at Capella University, with plans to graduate in December 2016. The second award was to Shannon Francis Raffington, a Stamford resident who is studying for her Masters of Science in human resource management, with plans to graduate in May of 2016. The third award was to Neda Chavez, a New Canaan resident who is studying for her Masters of Law at Pace Law School, with plans to graduate in December of 2016.
The PCE grant awarded is one of six P.E.O. philanthropic projects. This project provides grants of up to $3,000 to women who have found it necessary to return to school and who are within two years of attaining their degree. Candidates need not be residents of New Canaan, but are required to have U.S. citizenship, and be with 24 months of completing their education.
