Long-time resident Lisa Corrado has spent the past 12 years running her nutrition practice in New Canaan. Now, she’s shifting her business to help others in a new way. She recently launched The Felix Culpa Project, a motivational community that shares stories of positive change after a challenge. The idea came from her own cancer experience. “Having cancer scared me, and taught me that life really is too short,” she said. “If you don’t craft your life to be the way you want, you’ll wind up with a lot of regret at the end.”
Felix Culpa is Latin for ‘fortunate fault.’ It’s the concept of something good coming from something bad. Corrado says she’s fascinated by stories of people using life’s curveballs as catalysts for positive change. On her website, TheFelixCulpaProject.com, she shares interviews with people who have taken challenges like divorce, serious illness, discrimination and domestic violence; and used them to start new businesses, help others in need, travel the world or make a career change.
“My library includes recorded interviews as well as written posts that show all sorts of people making all sorts of changes,” she says. “My hope is that each visitor to the site will take away a nugget that inspires even more positive change.”
In addition to the website’s content, Corrado conducts speaking engagements and offers workshops. The next workshop, entitled From Challenge To Change, is on Saturday, Nov. 14 at Halo Studios.
