
New Canaan: Scott Hobbs will be honored for his many years of community service at the 59th annual Gridiron dinner on April 12, 2019, at the Italian Center in Stamford.

A third-generation New Canaanite, Hobbs lives in town with his wife, Lisa, and their three children Jack, Charlie and Ellie. After graduating from New Canaan High School in 1985, Hobbs went to Duke University and in 1989 earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics and public policy studies.
From 1989-92, Hobbs served as an armor officer in the U.S. Army, after which he joined the family business. In 1998, after learning every job at the company and earning his MBA from Columbia University, he succeeded his father at Hobbs, Inc. as owner and president.
Hobbs has served as chairman of the Housing Authority of New Canaan since 2014, and served on various Town Hall building committees. He has served as a board member of the Presbyterian Nursery School, a trustee of St. Luke’s School and he has been a member of the Rotary Club since 2000.
Each year the Gridiron Club of New Canaan celebrates a member of the community who has set an example of community spirit and leadership. The Gridiron Club will portray the life of Hobbs on stage during a roast featuring dinner and live entertainment. For 2019, the Gridiron dinner will a be a one-night only event while the Country Club of New Canaan, the home of previous Gridiron events, is under construction.
The Gridiron Club makes a donation in honor of the Fall Guy to a charity of the honoree’s choosing. Hobbs has chosen to support the New Canaan Library’s capital/building campaign in 2019.
