New Canaan: Diane Knetzger retired at the end of August from her role as director of Marketing at Bankwell, a job she held for the last 14 years. The announcement was made by Laura Waitz, EVP and chief of staff.
Knetzger managed the company’s marketing and communications since the bank’s early days as The Bank of New Canaan, and also served as community liaison to not-for-profit organizations throughout the bank’s expanding network over the years.
She played an integral role in creating, launching and developing the Bankwell brand when The Bank of New Canaan, The Bank of Fairfield and Stamford First Bank merged to become Bankwell in 2013 and later acquired The Wilton Bank and Quinnipiac Bank & Trust.
“Diane has made many invaluable contributions during her tenure at Bankwell and has been instrumental in the bank’s evolution and growth. She has built a philanthropic program that is much more than about giving money to groups; it is about building relationships in the communities that Bankwell is located in; giving both time and resources. She has been a true ambassador of the organization, known and well-loved by many,” said Waitz.
“I leave Bankwell fulfilled and enormously proud of the organization,” notes Knetzger. “It has been a privilege to play an integral role in the steady growth of the bank, and especially to build the Bankwell brand. I’ve enjoyed being part of a company that’s committed to being a strong corporate citizen and community partner.”
Following her tenure at Bankwell, and building upon her prior role as a marketing consultant, Knetzger plans to re-establish her own business, as well as provide support to local not-for-profit organizations.
