State Sen. Toni Boucher, R-26th including New Canaan, who was nominated for re-election at the District Republican Convention in May, received the additional endorsement of the state’s Independent Party at their caucus on Aug. 20.

Sen. Boucher’s name will now appear on both the Republican and Independent party lines of the general election ballot in November.
“I’m very pleased to have won the endorsement of the state Independent party,” Boucher said in a press release. “It’s an acknowledgement of my philosophy that good government transcends party lines, and that in order to correct the Connecticut’s current downward course, we need to work together in a bipartisan way.”
In order to qualify for the Independent party endorsement, Boucher had to petition for 576 signatures in a short window of time. “In fact, we ended up collecting 920 valid signatures to qualify for the Independent party line in addition to being the official Republican endorsed for our party line for the November 2018 election.”
Boucher is senate chief deputy majority leader, co-chair of the Education and Transportation committees and vice chair of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee.
